A neatly arranged design can still curl at its edges or become uneven after ironing. Use Doumen to check missing beads and wrong colors before fusing, then investigate the materials, heating and cooling process if warping occurs. It can begin during heating or result from support and forces during cooling, so identify the problem before applying more heat.

Heating one area for too long

An area heated for longer may fuse or shrink before surrounding beads connect. This can leave the cooled piece bent. Avoid keeping an iron in one spot, and follow your bead brand's guidance for the heat setting, ironing paper and method.

Cooling also affects the shape

A freshly fused piece is still flexible. Lifting it immediately, leaving it unsupported or placing it on an uneven surface can distort it. Follow the material instructions for cooling on a safe, flat surface, using suitable flat support where recommended. Avoid burns and contact with heat-sensitive objects.

Mixing materials makes results harder to control

Brands, sizes, series and batches may soften differently. If some beads have fused while others remain loose, heating and shrinkage can be uneven. Start with compatible materials and test a small sample before a full design.

What to do with slight curling

Let the piece cool fully and check its joins. If further treatment is needed, follow the relevant material instructions and test the approach on a sample first. Reheating can close holes, leave impressions or worsen deformation; a repair is not guaranteed.

Do not force a badly twisted piece flat

A piece that has melted excessively or developed cracked joins may break if forcibly straightened. Consider remaking an area or the entire piece rather than increasing the temperature repeatedly. Structural stability matters for ornaments and charms.

Checks before your next attempt

Confirm that the beads and protective materials are compatible, the iron is working properly and the work surface is flat. Prepare cooling space in advance. Aim for even coverage and follow the product instructions. An adult must carry out the high-temperature ironing step.

Before attempting a repair

Check the materials, heating method and cooling conditions first. Doumen assists chart reading and inspection; it does not control temperature or repair fused plastic. Use the material manufacturer's instructions to guide any further treatment.
